FIAT began in 1899 in Turin, Italy. It was led by Giovanni Agnelli, who served as the lead innovator and inventor for FIAT. At the turn of the century, the first FIAT factory opened in Turin. It made 24 vehicles that year. The Lingotto factory opened in 1922 in Turin and produced supplies for the Allied Forces during World War II.
